What is Dua?

Du'a (دُعَاء) is supplication in Islam.
Du'a is an Arabic term which means to 'call out' or to 'summon'. Muslims use this term and call out to God, and Muslims regard this as one of the greatest acts of worship in Islam. Muhammad (pbuh) is reported to have said "Dua is the very essence of worship." One of the Allah's commands expressed to Muslims through the Quran is for them to call out to it:
"And your Lord says: "Call on Me; I will answer your (Prayer): but those who are too arrogant to serve Me will surely find themselves in Hell - in humiliation!"
